Academic Leadership in Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences (GEES) Programmes and Departments

Wednesday 1st March (6pm) to Thursday 2nd March (4pm) 2006 - Best Western Belmont House Hotel, De Montfort Street, Leicester

This is the very first GEES Subject Centre event designed for GEES programme leaders, for heads of schools/departments and for chairs of GEES learning and teaching committees (and those who aspire to these positions!). Its focus is on leadership and management skills and on providing a forum in which those responsible for GEES learning and teaching can meet and exchange ideas.

Participants will learn about approaches to leadership and management which can enhance their personal effectiveness and bring benefits to both their colleagues and their students. Examples of the topics to be covered include:

Our lead facilitators will be Professor Mike Bradford (Manchester University School of Geography) and Judy McKimm (Management and Leadership Consultant) A keynote presentation will be given by Alison Johns, Head of Leadership, Governance and Management, HEFCE.

So, if you would like to meet colleagues with responsibility for GEES learning and teaching, do come and join us. The event will begin at 6pm on 1 st March and end at 4pm on the following day. Hotel and meal costs will be paid for by the Subject Centre but places are limited.
