Exploring the use of audio feedback in the GEES disciplines
At the end of 2008 the Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences (GEES) Subject Centre offered funding to support departments who wanted to explore the use of audio feedback in their learning and teaching.
Successful applicants received a free departmental workshop on using audio feedback and £3000 to allow their department to introduce or enhance the use of audio feedback in GEES learning, teaching and assessment.
Funded Projects on the use of audio feedback in the GEES disciplines:
- University or Portsmouth - Carol Ekinsmyth, Department of Geography - Final report (100kb Word file)
- University of Gloucestershire - Kenny Lynch, Department of Natural and Social Sciences
The Subject Centre worked with the "Sounds Good" project under the JISC Users and Innovation (U&I): Personalising Technologies programme. An innovative aspect of the U&I programme was to make further funding available so that the wider community could benefit from the outputs of the individual projects. Members of the GEES community were able to benefit from the "Sounds Good" project, and the experience of other GEES colleagues with expertise in this area, through this funding opportunity from JISC.
This work was carried out in partnership with the Engineering Subject Centre who facilitated a number of audio based projects with engineering colleagues.
