Recruitment, Transition and Retention
Recruitment to degree courses is currently a key issue for the GEES disciplines in UK higher education. In addition, once students commence their courses they can encounter difficulties in the transition from secondary education or the workplace (for mature students) to higher education. The GEES Subject Centre undertakes a variety of activities to support the disciplines and to encourage sharing of practice in these areas:
- Archived Event: Recruitment and retention in the GEES disciplines (2007)
- Research project: School students' perceptions of GEES
- Project and publication: 'Them and Us' - a student and staff project
In addition, the GEES Subject Centre offers a departmental workshop (tailored to your particular requirements) on Student Transition and Retention.
