3. Management and analysis of data

1. The Margalef index is calculated to compare community diversity in the lower shore and upper shore in each habitat. The dividing line between upper shore and lower shore is up to the investigator to determine, but should have a logical basis.

2. The jack-knife estimate of species richness is used to assess species richness within each community and within each habitat.

 

 

 


3. The Jaccard coefficient of community similarity is used to compare upper shore communities in different habitats with each other and to compare lower shore communities in different habitats with each other.

4. Levins' Index is used to calculate niche breadth for the selected species.

5. Morista's Index is used to calculate niche overlap between each pairwise combination of selected species.<<back >>next
