Habitat Saline marshlands
Herbaceous perennial. Leaves long, needle-like, rigid and very sharply-pointed. Spring flowering. Flowers have hard petals which persist for a long time when dry.
Grows in damp places near the coast, especially in brackish pools. Flower stalks formerly widely used for construction of fish traps.
Declining. Very scarce.
